Today’s daily prompt asks
Time for another Odd Trio prompt: write a post about any topic you want, in whatever form or genre, but make sure it features a slice of cake, a pair of flip-flops, and someone old and wise.
When I was around the age of 7 or so back in Taiwan, my family would visit my grandmother often down in the farms. Every time we went there we’d see her place some treats outside the door in case we’d arrive before she’d be done preparing everything else. Cakes, fresh picked fruits and tiny little plastic chairs for us to sit at and enjoy, I barely spoke the dialect as a kid but she would sit eagerly listening to our attempts to say something and smiled every time I’d enjoy the snacks.
A few years forward, In 2002 I went back for her funeral. Standing at the exact same spot where she put her hand on my head and smiled when I did, encouraging me to remember that sweet moment. How could I forget? I asked myself as I looked down at the plastic chair where I used to sit with my flip flops and a goofy look on my face? I miss her and more so I miss the childhood I once had, truly do. 🙂
Beautiful musical accompaniment, very evocative for the sweet arrangement of your written memory. Times we take for granted at the time and cherished for eternity.
Exactly, the ones that will always come back like it was only yesterday, thank you Nicola 🙂
