Today’s prompt asks
Bacon and chocolate, caramel and cheddar… Is there an unorthodox food pairing you really enjoy? Share with us the weirdest combo you’re willing to admit that you like — and how you discovered it.
I will throw another twist to yet another unimaginative prompt idea by showing what I had over the past weekend instead, I love dim sum so I had to try this new place that opened around my neighborhood called Lee’s garden seafood. It’s at a location of the previously defunct grand buffet place here in south Burnaby, Now. Let me tell you, I would not recommend this place to ‘Anyone’. I mean, we just walked in and told them our table reservation time and their reply was “Well Its not that time yet now is it?” ooukayee that already put a bitter taste in my mouth. As if that wasn’t bad enough, about 20 extra minutes after we were sat down? we were given tea we didn’t ask for and I couldn’t flag any of the waitresses down because they were huddled together chit chatting.
The speed of the food coming was the next disappointment. We ordered only 5 items to try, they took about 15 mins or more each. I mean, seriously? 15 minutes? dim sum should be arriving every 5 minutes tops.
Now, while the presentation was decent the food was lacking in flavor. For example, the flour shrimp roll had what I could tell originally frozen shrimps, They lacked taste even with soy sauce, which would usually save any bad dish. Or so I thought?
The only good things I found I enjoyed were the ones above, the bottom one is what they call chive box and the above is spring roll. Though then again, You just can’t go wrong with fried right 😛
