One stumped poet on a daily prompt

Today’s prompt asks

If the world worked on a barter system, how would you fare? Would you have services to barter? Would you be successful, or would you struggle?

A bartering system, That’s how things were done in the past right? a bushel of hay for apples and stuff? But what would I barter, Oof. What can a wandering into town barter? lyrics in exchange for a warm meal? help out everyone in need for a home for the night? I am honestly stumped on this one but I figured I’d give it a try, How about you? any thoughts? πŸ™‚Β

  1. Yes!!! Sharing words and pictures would be wise because the cause people to stop and think. You would have to receive money before the “mini vacation” or “eye openers” begin.

Helping people with various tasks, too, would also help. πŸ˜€

  2. I recently read a book called the Moneyless Manifesto in which the author, Mark Boyle, worked entirely on a barter system. It was food for thought but not sure how feasible it would be worldwide. However, the name he used for this system was the ‘gift economy’, and I already do that on a small scale, such making jams and chutneys for friends and family. In return, I might get produce or wood ash, for example. It definitely feels more community spirited than getting everything from a shop πŸ™‚
